This is a catalog of applications produced by Secure Design. Secure Design attempts to make the evaluation products available from several sources. We can not always distribute the files to every location that we would like, however we have had continuing success with several locations. Long Description: QView Pro is a print queue management tool for Novell networks. QView Pro is a utility designed to allow complete control of multiple print queues. Most of the functions provided in Novell's pconsole are available in QView Pro. QView Pro also allows the operator to view the contents of more than one print queue at a time. With LanLock software on several file servers can be monitored at the same time. An application can be set for 8 copies to run from any of 3 servers. Both DOS and Windows applications are compatible. Operating System: DOS, Netware Keywords: NETWARE UTILITIES COMMAND LINE MISC Short Description: Miscellaneous command line utils for Netware Long Description: Secure Design's Utilities is a collection of DOS command line utilities that can be helpful in managing a Novell network. Many of these utilities have been created as a result of discussions on the Internet about Novell. Results from the programs are returned in DOS errorlevels for ease in creating batch files. (Several examples are included.) The following is a list of some of the utilities. * CDMAIL Change to a user's SYS:MAIL\ directory. * GONE Lock a workstation terminal with password. * NWPAGER Dial pager numbers when a server fails. * NWPING Ping a file server. * QCHECK Check status of a print queue. * QJOBDEL Remove print jobs from a queue. * QLIST List print jobs in a queue. * SCHECK Check login status of a server. * SYNCTIME Set server clock from workstation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Product: SuperFix Evaluation file name: (no demo available) Current Version v1.01 Release Date: Sept 30, 1994 Price: $25 per file server. Operating System: DOS, Netware 3.x Keywords: SUPERVISOR PASSWORD LOCKOUT Short Description: Restores supervisor password after it is lost. Long Description: SuperFix is a Netware Loadable Module (NLM) that will change the supervisor password on a Netware Server. The main purpose of this tool is to allow access to a server after the supervisor password has been lost or the account has been locked out (by node control or disabling the login) SuperFix will allow the change of the supervisor password, remove any login node restrictions, and reset the account login defaults for the SUPERVISOR account. As the supervisor account password is changed, each user on the server is notified of the action taken. SuperFix will not create a new supervisor account, nor will it correct problems with the bindery database. SuperFix requires Netware 3.11 and 3.12. Operating System: DOS, Netware 3.x Keywords: PASSWORD SECURITY AUDIT Short Description: Utility to prevent guessable passwords. Long Description: Password Inspector is a utility designed to assist network administrators in keeping user accounts secure. When run by a Supervisor or equivalent, Password Inspector will test user passwords with a large dictionary of common words to see if the password can be found. If a password is found, the Supervisor will have the option of expiring the password, changing the password, or disabling the account. Password Inspector can also generate composite passwords by combining words in its' dictionary. The dictionary provided with Password Inspector contains thousands of words, however with the composite password option, several million words can easily be generated. Password Inspector must be run by a supervisor or equivalent on a file server. A user without supervisor access can not use this software. Features: * Check accounts for easily guessed passwords. * Generate passwords from multiple words in the dictionary. * Select user accounts for checking. * Add custom words to the dictionary. * Change or expire venerable passwords. * Check passwords before allowing the user to change their password. * Save or print a report of the password scan. Operating System: Macintosh 6.0.5 or later. Keywords: PRINTER SELECTION LASERWRITER INIT CHOOSER Short Description: INIT utility to select printer on start-up. Long Description: AutoLaser is an INIT utility for Macintosh Computers. The INIT will search the local network for LaserWriters, and select one at random. The user will be notified as to which printer they will be using. * Use AutoLaser in a large computer lab environment to distribute the printer load on the network printers. If you shut a printer off, it will not be selected on start-up when a computer is rebooted. * Use with laptops. A local printer will always be selected on start-up, no matter where you plug your laptop in. * Notify the user which printer that they will be using. AutoLaser was written for LaserWriter style printers, however it will work with any print driver that stores the network address of the printer in the PAPA resource -8192. Other printers include: HP Color InkJet and ImageWriters. * LAN site license covers ONE local area network. Long Description: Bootp Namer is an application to assist in the upkeep of large appletalk networks. Bootp Namer will first obtain an IP address, and a DNS name for a workstation. Next, it will rename the computer, and update the login name in the AppleShare Prep file. This application is especially useful in large student computer labs where many workstations have similar configurations. A computer administrator can set up a generic system folder on a server.
